About the role

As a leader, you will guide a team in promoting a culture of automation and cloud-first principles. Your responsibilities include contributing to infrastructure and application code pipelines on Azure Cloud, designing and testing .NET applications, and collaborating with engineers for scalable solutions. You'll also manage CI/CD tools, automate tasks, and enforce security measures. Additionally, you'll support ITIL processes, monitor system health and security, investigate vulnerabilities, and build relationships with stakeholders. The role emphasises a commitment to innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.

  • Create, build, and verify intricate .NET applications utilising C#, ASP.NET, and other relevant .NET technologies.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to devise and deploy scalable and dependable .NET solutions.
  • Craft code that is tidy, well-structured, and amenable to testing.
  • Provide operational support for cloud-first solutions and on-premises application environments, including databases and associated infrastructure.
  • Lead both junior and senior engineers in fostering a culture centred around automation and prioritising cloud-first principles.
  • Establish, improve, and oversee Azure cloud and on-premises application environments. Define technical specifications, automate installation/build procedures with inherent quality controls, manage configuration and administration tasks for increased efficiency and reduced complexity. Ensure the software is current and well-supported.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure engineers to define common deployment patterns, build and deploy environment stacks, and offer support for application software components, database changes, and enhancements.
  • Implement ongoing improvement initiatives to uphold the relevance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of solutions, while maintaining a high standard of security and compliance.
  • Monitor application and environment well-being, capacity, and performance, addressing security and vulnerabilities via health checks, testing, and remediation.

Skills & experience

  • 10 + Years working in a relevant position
  • Demonstrated expertise in DevOps, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical support in the IT field.
  • Practical involvement with CI/CD tools is crucial, with required expertise in TeamCity, Octopus, and Jenkins. Essential experience in GitLab, GitHub, and/or Bitbucket is mandatory, and there is a strong preference for familiarity with Puppet, Docker, and/or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technology stacks, including Windows Server 2012 and above, .NET applications, IIS, SQL Server, and PowerShell.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Azure Cloud is essential.
