Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Director - Cloud & AI Platforms to lead and grow our Cloud & AI Platforms practice. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping go-to-market strategy, driving commercial growth, and building a high-performing platform engineering capability across Cloud and AI-enabled solutions.

This role operates as a business owner within the firm and carries clear expectations around revenue generation, market presence, and team leadership. The successful candidate will combine deep cloud platform credibility with strong consulting instincts and a passion for building scalable, future-facing technology practices.

The Director - Cloud & AI Platforms will work closely with leaders across Cloud, Data, AI, Security, and Digital to deliver integrated transformation outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Practice Leadership

  • Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for the Cloud & AI Platforms practice, aligned to broader firm objectives.

  • Shape the evolution of cloud-native and AI-enabled platform offerings in response to market demand.

  • Contribute to practice strategy, investment decisions, and capability build-out.

Business Development & Growth

  • Own and deliver against a revenue target, operating with a P&L-style mindset.

  • Actively originate, shape, and close Cloud & AI platform engagements.

  • Build and maintain a strong market presence in Sydney, leveraging an established professional network.

  • Engage mid-market and enterprise clients (typically sub-$1B organisations) on cloud and AI transformation agendas.

Client Engagement & Delivery

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, including CIOs, CTOs, and transformation leaders.

  • Provide strategic oversight and direction on cloud platform architecture, cloud infrastructure modernisation, and AI-enabled platforms.

  • Ensure high-quality delivery outcomes across complex, multi-stream transformation programs.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of cloud architects, engineers, and consultants (initially ~10-12 people).

  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and commercial awareness.

  • Support capability uplift and career progression within the broader Cloud & AI team.

Solution & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as a senior subject matter expert for cloud and AI platform solutions.

  • Provide architectural direction rather than hands-on delivery, guiding solution design and implementation teams.

  • Stay at the forefront of cloud-native and AI platform trends, ensuring solutions remain contemporary and differentiated.

Cross-Practice Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Data, AI, Security, Digital, and Advisory teams to deliver end-to-end transformation solutions.

  • Contribute to integrated pursuits and large-scale client programs.

Thought Leadership & Market Presence

  • Represent the firm externally through client forums, industry events, and market conversations.

  • Contribute to thought leadership through presentations, point-of-view material, and internal knowledge sharing.

Required Skills & Experience
Core Experience

  • Extensive experience in a senior cloud leadership role within consulting or professional services.

  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure and platform engineering, with experience directing (rather than delivering) solutions.

  • Proven success leading cloud-native transformation programs.

Cloud & Technology Expertise

  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure; AWS experience highly regarded.

  • Strong understanding of cloud platform engineering, cloud operating models, and AI-enabled platforms.

  • Familiarity with modern DevOps, security, and governance practices in cloud environments.

Commercial & Strategic Capability

  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute go-to-market strategies.

  • Strong commercial acumen with experience owning revenue targets and building pipeline.

  • Comfort operating as a business owner within a consulting environment.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven people leader with experience building and scaling high-performing teams.

  • Exceptional communication skills, able to engage technical teams and executive stakeholders.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills across clients and internal leadership.

Personal Attributes

  • Passionate about Cloud and AI innovation and its impact on business transformation.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Additional Information

  • Location: Sydney (office-based with a 3-day office mandate)

  • Level: Director (with a clear pathway to Partner for high performers)

  • Remuneration: Competitive Director-level package with performance-based bonus

  • Working Style: Predominantly office-based with reasonable flexibility

Summary

This is a rare opportunity for a senior Cloud & AI leader to take ownership of a growing platform practice, influence strategic direction, and position themselves for Partner progression. The role is suited to a commercially minded leader who combines cloud credibility with strong market presence and leadership ambition.
