We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Safety Manager to join our team and support the Army Aviation Systems Branch (AASB) Directorate of Engineering. This pivotal role is crucial for ensuring the management of a best practice Safety Management System (including System Safety and Product Work Health and Safety) that aligns with Australian and ADF policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, lead, and manage the AASB System Safety Program and Technical Services-Workplace Health and Safety Programs.
- Maintain and update the AASB System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) and Technical Services-Workplace Health and Safety Programs (TS-WHSPP).
- Provide mentoring, advice, and leadership to individual System Safety Practitioners.
- Offer expert advice to AASB Management Units (MUs) regarding System Safety.
- Ensure the safety cases for each product/platform managed by AASB are assured.
- Oversee MU-produced hazard logs, Safety System Risk Assessments (SSRA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to SSRA/SAR processes in accordance with the AASB SSPP.
- Review safety assessments produced by individual AASB MUs.
- Execute the AASB System Safety Program for ACTSS (AASB Commons).
- Attend safety conferences/boards and deliver presentations as required.
- Manage training requirements related to System Safety and Workplace Health and Safety for AASB staff.
- Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Formal System Safety Qualifications: AQFT Level 9.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-11 years in the following areas:
- Aerospace Systems (Level 3)
- Engineering Management (Level 3)
- System Safety Engineering (Level 3)
- Defence Aviation (Level 3)
- Desirable: Army Aviation Aircraft experience (Level 3).
- Additional Criteria: Must have formal Defence Aviation Safety Authority System Safety Training.
- Required Government Clearance: NV1 - Negative Vetting 1.
