EL1 Project Manager - Federal Government

We are seeking an experienced EL1 Project Manager to join a major Federal Government digital program. This role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of complex ICT solutions, including payments platforms and new digital capabilities that have significant national impact.

As Project Manager, you will work closely with Program Directors, Product Owners, and technical delivery teams to ensure successful planning, coordination, and delivery of technology projects within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

As the EL1 Project Manager, you will:

  • Coordinate technical solution planning activities for new capabilities and features.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, balancing technical dependencies with business priorities.

  • Oversee delivery of all technical components, working closely with internal system, architecture, and cyber security teams.

  • Manage delivery partners for system implementation and integration.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Release Train Engineers, and Scrum teams to track progress and resolve technical issues.

  • Represent the project in ICT Change Management and release planning forums.

  • Ensure compliance with technology standards including cyber assessments, penetration testing, and release gates.

  • Apply DevOps principles to improve quality and reliability in release processes, testing, and monitoring.

  • Actively manage risks, issues, and decisions, while producing weekly project status reports.

  • Provide ICT delivery leadership, ensuring conformance to methods and championing continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • 8-10 years' experience in delivering technical ICT system projects, including mobile applications.

  • Strong knowledge of contemporary project management and governance frameworks.

  • Experience managing projects within Federal or State Government environments.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry-recognised project management certifications (e.g. Diploma of Project Management, SAFe Agile).

  • Experience leading large-scale Agile delivery methodologies.

  • Eligibility: Australian citizenship mandatory as AGSVA Security CLearance will be need to preform the role.

  • Location: Canberra preferred (other locations may be considered).
