Infrastructure Engineer - Federal Government

We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a major Federal Government network transformation program. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex, high-availability network environments and play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of enterprise infrastructure systems.

In this role, you will act as a key technical escalation point, providing expert guidance and troubleshooting support across a range of Fortinet and Azure technologies. You'll collaborate closely with technical teams and stakeholders to resolve complex issues, maintain project momentum, and drive the successful deployment and operation of secure, modern network solutions.

Key Responsibilities

As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will:

• Serve as a primary technical escalation point for network infrastructure projects.

• Provide expert guidance and support for:

  • Fortinet SD-WAN and FortiGate Firewalls

  • Fortinet Azure NVA deployments

  • FortiClient, FortiSASE, and FortiSandbox

  • Azure Cloud Infrastructure

• Troubleshoot complex issues, ensuring rapid and effective resolution to minimise downtime.

• Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to optimise network design and performance.

• Create detailed network documentation, diagrams, and technical guidance.

• Map data flows across network zones and cross-domain environments.

• Communicate technical concepts clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

• Proven experience working in secure, contemporary ICT environments delivering network and infrastructure services.

• Strong expertise across Fortinet and Azure network technologies.

• Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills.

• High attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Visio for network mapping and documentation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.

• A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
