Key duties and responsibilities
- Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with organisational goals and government digital standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams to deliver product features and enhancements on time and within scope, using agile methodologies.
- Engage with stakeholders (internal and external) to gather requirements, prioritise features, and ensure alignment with user needs and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including user stories, acceptance criteria, and release notes.
- Monitor product performance and user feedback to inform continuous improvement and data-driven decision making.
- Coordinate with legal, procurement, and governance teams to ensure compliance, risk management, and adherence to public sector frameworks.
- Facilitate product planning sessions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to drive agile delivery and foster a culture of learning and adaptation.
- Represent the organisation in governance forums, promote the use of whole-of-government technology platforms, and provide updates to senior leadership.
- Oversee the change management process, including approvals, stakeholder communications, and service desk coordination.
Technical and non-technical skills
- Proven experience in digital product management, preferably in a government or digital service environment.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI including relevant chat applications, Large Language Models, practical application of generative AI in business processes.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies, product lifecycle management, and digital transformation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex requirements into actionable product features and deliver outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Experience with digital platforms, user research, and data-driven decision making.
- High-level organisational and prioritisation skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Familiarity with government standards, regulations, and security requirements.
