Electrical Engineer (Radio Frequency Specialist)

Contract Term:
  • 9 December 2024 – 29 June 2025 + possible extension
Work Arrangement:
  • Up to 2 days per week WFH / ad-hoc
  • Regular travel to and from DPM & LC4SIL required
About the Role:
The Land Command, Control, Communications and Computers Integration System Program Office (LC4 Integration SPO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer with a specialization in Radio Frequency (RF). This role is integral to the Plat-IES team, responsible for providing Integration as a Service (IaaS) for various Australian Defence Force (ADF) platforms, including Army Protected Mobility Vehicles and specialist Naval ships. As part of this dynamic team, you will contribute to system integration, testing, and technical integrity of electrical/power/RF systems across a range of critical military capabilities.
You will be embedded within a collaborative team of engineers, government representatives, and industry partners. Your contributions will help ensure the successful integration of electrical systems, meeting stringent Defence specifications and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Expertise: Provide Electrical, Power, and RF engineering services to support the ADF's technical integrity, including design, verification, validation, and certification of systems.
  • System Integration: Design and implement military voice/data and Position Location Information (PLI) systems, utilizing amplifiers, filters, antennae, and other RF components.
  • Project Support: Conduct planning, delivery of engineering services, resource management, and compliance reviews. Support the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Detailed Design Review (DDR) certification.
  • Testing & Analysis: Use test equipment to assess RF system performance, including gain, noise figure, linearity, and phase noise.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project teams to ensure alignment with Defence requirements and industry best practices.
Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred), or a similar discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of industry experience in Electrical/Power/RF engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical or professional work activities.
  • Strong capability to design and implement RF and electrical systems for military applications.
  • Proficient in RF system performance testing using industry-standard equipment.
  • Experience in contract documentation, planning, reporting, and technical specification writing.
Highly Desirable:
  • Prior Defence experience and understanding of Defence capabilities and requirements.
  • Experience in designing RF systems for contested communications or electronic warfare.
  • Strong background in digital communications protocols, signal conversion, and wireless technologies.
  • Ability to obtain or already hold a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
