About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Data Lead / Migration Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position is crucial for ensuring the integrity, security, and seamless transfer of data within our Defence systems, particularly in the transition to the new system. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise, support data modeling, lead data validation, and ensure compliance with privacy and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Subject Matter Expertise:
- Provide expert advice on the Data Management Agreement (DMA) and the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA).
- Update DMA and PIA documents as required to reflect current data management practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Attend and actively participate in workshops and meetings with project stakeholders to provide data-related insights and solutions.
- Data Modeling Support:
- Collaborate with the project team to support data modeling activities that meet the specific needs of Defence systems.
- Data Migration Management:
- Lead data validation and cleansing activities to ensure accurate data transfer from legacy systems to the new system.
- Identify potential risks and issues in the data migration process and provide expert advice on mitigation strategies.
- Risk Assessment and Issue Resolution:
- Work with the Project Team to evaluate options for addressing risks and issues related to data validation and cleansing.
- Offer guidance on the costs, timing, and impact of proposed solutions on overall project outcomes.
- System Architecture & Data Integration:
- Ensure that the new system’s data architecture supports seamless data transfer and integration from legacy systems and other Defence or external systems.
- Advise on data integration risks and issues as they arise.
- Security & Compliance:
- Identify security risks and vulnerabilities in data handling processes.
- Ensure systems are designed to protect sensitive data and comply with relevant privacy standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in data management, data migration, and data architecture, preferably within Defence or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, validation, and cleansing techniques.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations, specifically the Data Management Agreement and Privacy Impact Assessment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address data-related risks.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and project teams.
- Experience in implementing secure data transfer protocols and protecting sensitive information.
- Experience working on Defence-related projects or in a government setting.
- Certification in data management or a related field.
- Familiarity with legacy and modern data systems integration.
