Cyber Security Analyst
- Daily rate of $1000-$1150 inc super
- Work with an established and growing team of Security Engineers to enhance the SIEM capabilities for a federal government department with a national presence
- Australian citizenship required with ability to gain and obtain a security clearance
About the company
This Government agency was established to play an important role in developing the legislation, support layers and funding to support Australians living with a disability. Since their inception in 2010, they have grown in size, with public servants in most Australian states. Since 2021, there has been a growing demand and requirement to increase their cyber security resilience and have been building a team to support the security governance, detection and response to cyber incidence.
About the role
You will be working with a strong team of security engineers and SOC analysts, led by an IT Security Manager with a technical cyber security and operations background to develop the SOC and SIEM detection capabilities, with a large focus initially on building the necessary tools and integration, as well as the rules, alerts and identifying the data inputs to respond to the latest security threats
You will be involved in:
- Enforcing organizational security policies, through monitoring of vulnerability scanning devices.
- Performing threat hunting across a range of date sources, endpoint, firewall, email, web or DNS logs to identify and mitigate intrusion attempts.
- Investigating malicious phishing emails, domains and IPs using Open Source tools and recommend proper blocking based on analysis.
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Cyber Security related activities.
