About the Role:
Are you an experienced planner with a passion for cyber operations and training? The Cyber Range Exercise Planner will play a critical role in the development and execution of cyber exercises, from individual to multinational levels. Reporting to the ILS Sustainment Manager, Cyber Range Manager, and working closely with Defence Cyber Units and external government agencies, you will scope, script, and guide the creation of Cyber Terrain across all 7 Tiers, including Joint FVEY Exercises.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scope and Design: Engage with Cyber Units and external government agencies to scope, design, and create scripting for simulated real-time Cyber Terrain, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and trade model progression.
- Guidance and Advice: Provide expert guidance on building Cyber Training Environments from Tier 1 to Tier 7, including the development of storyboards for Cyber Terrain.
- Exercise Planning: Utilize your exercise planning and targeting experience to simulate Cyber synthetic targets and write CONOPS for both Blue and Red team Cyber exercises.
- Simulation and Testing: Act as the White Team to stimulate Cyber environments during exercises and ensure the effective functioning of the Cyber Terrain.
- Liaison and Coordination: Act as the Cyber Planner between the Defence Cyber Range (DCR) and external stakeholders. Collaborate with the TOEP – Cyber Technical Lead to create and refine Cyber environments.
- Development and Review: Assist in developing and reviewing Cyber Security TTPs and the creation of a Joint Cyber trade model compatible with US standards.
- Collaboration: Regularly meet with key internal and external stakeholders to advise on the Cyber Terrain library, development progress, sandboxing, and testing.
- Continuous Improvement: Review the Cyber Terrain Library annually, source alternative learning outcomes, and develop pathways for Cyber pre-deployment requirements.
- Support and Administration: Submit IT service tickets for PCTE/DCR works, provide advice to ADF Cyber Planners, and perform other tasks as directed by the Defence Cyber Range Manager and ILS Sustainment Manager.
- Extensive Experience: Significant experience in ADF Operational Planning, with a strong understanding of ADF Training Management Frameworks and training pathways to exercise readiness.
- Expertise in Cyber Training: Demonstrated experience in scripting and designing Cyber Training Environments across multiple tiers.
- Exercise Planning Skills: Proven ability to simulate Cyber synthetic targets, write CONOPS, and lead scripting efforts for Cyber Terrain.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Cyber Security TTPs and experience in developing interoperable Cyber models with US standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong liaison skills with Defence Cyber Units and external agencies, with experience in meeting and advising on Cyber Terrain development.
- Analytical Abilities: Ability to analyze major exercise requirements and develop effective learning pathways for Cyber training.
