Location: Canberra (Hybrid arrangements considered)

Are you a strategic thinker who thrives on shaping enterprise-wide transformation?
We are seeking an experienced Business Architect to play a critical role in aligning organisational strategy, operating models, capabilities, processes and technology investments to deliver measurable outcomes.
Reporting to the Enterprise Architect within the Chief Information and Technology Office (CITO), this role provides leadership in developing and governing business architecture capability. You will work across business and ICT teams to shape transformation initiatives, improve service delivery and support informed investment decisions.
This is a senior position operating with a high degree of autonomy, requiring strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate business strategy into structured, practical architectural outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment
Translate organisational and ICT strategies into structured business architecture artefacts.
Develop and maintain enterprise business capability models and business architecture principles.
Provide architectural input into strategy development, roadmap planning and investment prioritisation.
Ensure the application portfolio is aligned and mapped to business capabilities.
Business Capability Management
Establish and govern a capability-based planning approach.
Assess capability maturity and identify uplift opportunities.
Align capabilities to programs, products and value streams to enable outcome-focused delivery.
Process Analysis & Innovation
Analyse end-to-end business processes to identify improvement opportunities.
Assess technology, automation and digital solutions to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Develop future state process designs and support organisational change impacts.
Portfolio & Investment Support
Contribute to business cases and architectural design activities.
Assess initiative alignment to target architecture.
Identify duplication and rationalisation opportunities across the enterprise portfolio.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
Facilitate workshops to define capabilities, value streams and operating model impacts.
Provide clear, accessible communication of complex architectural concepts.
Contribute to Architecture Review Board processes and maintain architecture artefacts.

What We're Looking For
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience in Business Architecture within complex government or enterprise environments
Strong capability modelling, operating model design and portfolio alignment experience
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate strategy into structured artefacts
Experience contributing to enterprise architecture governance frameworks
