About the Role:

Are you passionate about ensuring the Australian Navy's cutting-edge platforms operate seamlessly? We're seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join our Defence Naval Program team in Canberra. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the execution of the AD514 (Request for Problem resolution) for the SEA2273 program. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and executing detailed plans for specific Navy platforms, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring engineering deliverables align with project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute detailed plans for specific Navy platforms to meet project requirements.
  • Foster open, transparent relationships with key stakeholders such as NSG-SPO, ISSC, NI&IWB, etc.
  • Facilitate the progression and approval of Request for Problem Resolution (RPR).
  • Collaborate closely with SEA2273 Installation Manager to ensure timely approval of AD514-1.
  • Work with SEA2273 Engineering Manager to plan engineering deliverables in advance.
  • Identify and mitigate engineering risks, issues, and opportunities for allocated Navy Platforms.
  • Provide strategic engineering advice and establish engineering control processes.
  • Develop and implement relevant engineering documentation and presentations for project management.
  • Manage costs effectively, including conducting cost analyses on contractor surveys and quotes.
About the Program:
Join a team contributing to the Fleet Information Environment (FIE) Modernisation project, aimed at delivering a cyber-hardened, integrated, sustainable, and networked mission system for the Royal Australian Navy. This initiative will provide Command and Control (C2) capabilities, situational awareness, intelligence, surveillance, and cyber-worthy networks essential for operational success.

Skills & Experience:


Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering).
  • Demonstrated experience in Defence as a Systems Engineer, managing technical aspects of project delivery.
  • MHC, LSD platform knowledge, and experience.
  • Familiarity with Navy AD514 Engineering processes and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders.
Desirable:
  • Experience in Defence maritime environment.
  • Knowledge of Defence Capability Lifecycle Projects.
  • Military/APS/Contractor experience working with Ship Class SPO’s and ISSC’s.
