About the role

The Systems Engineer is responsible for providing specialist services in relation to implementing, managing, operating, and supporting the Microsoft on-prem and Cloud servers and related systems across the organisation.

  • Implement Microsoft server strategies and standards
  • Lead BAU projects and contribute to other relevant projects and technology initiatives
  • Problem diagnosis, correction, and escalated support of Microsoft technologies
  • Server upgrades and general maintenance
  • Test changes to production servers in a maintained and controlled environment
  • Support the servers & associated infrastructure, maintaining the ongoing availability and reliability of systems

Skills & experience

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Servers and associated server technologies.
  • Experience with Linux/ Ubuntu
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud environment
  • Exposure to network protocols particularly TCP/IP and Wide Area Networks
  • Knowledge of hyperconverged infrastructure (Nutanix/ Dell VX Rails)
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures and other support documentation.
  • Experience in using Confluence and ServiceNow
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages.
  • Strong time management, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
