Senior Solution Architect (Cyber & Networking)
Location: Sydney - Macquarie Park (Hybrid)
Engagement: 6 Month Initial Engagement + Potential to Extend
Daily Rate: $1200 + Super
We're hiring a hands-on Solution Architect to support cyber and network programs for a NSW Government agency.
This role isn't about theoretical frameworks - it's about crafting practical, risk-aware solutions that can be scoped, costed, and delivered in real-world environments. You'll work closely with delivery squads and stakeholders to reduce security risk and ensure architectural alignment - without over-engineering.
What You'll Do:
- Design and document solution options that reduce cyber and networking risks
- Provide tactical and strategic solutions based on risk profile, delivery feasibility, and timeframes
- Break down high-level designs into components for delivery squads to execute
- Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, and stakeholders to validate and refine designs
- Balance architecture alignment with delivery speed - aiming for the "right" solution, not just the "perfect" one
- Engage the lead architect as needed for review of complex or high-risk items
Key Skills:
- Strong background in cybersecurity and networking architecture
- Experience developing solution options that weigh effort, time, cost, and risk reduction
- Ability to work with delivery squads, not just hand over architecture from afar
- Solid understanding of frameworks like Essential 8
- Previous experience in large-scale enterprise or government environments
Desirable:
- Think practically, not just theoretically
- Can reduce high risks to medium with timely solutions (even tactical ones)
- Know how to engage with diverse technical stakeholders and simplify complexity
- Are delivery-aware and solution-focused, not just documentation-driven
